Text Quotes
Cosmos’ wouldn’t deserve its place in primetime evening network television were it not a landscape on which compelling stories were told. People, when they watch TV in the evening, want to see stories, and science simply tells the best stories.  (Tv Quotes) I didn’t grow up thinking I’d be a decorator. Design is my greatest passion, and it naturally just pulled me down the path. Same with TV. Being famous or having a show was never the motivation. I got a call and was swept up by the challenge of that first small space redesign.  (Tv Quotes) I love working in television, and I’ve been thrilled to be a part of so many wonderful shows. I worked with Lady Gaga on ‘Gossip Girl,’ and the brilliant Felicity Huffman on ‘Desperate Housewives,’ but I think my favorite TV job so far was the pilot I shot for the CW Network this year called ‘Joey Dakota.’  (Tv Quotes) I’m an actor, and I think some of us who are drawn to this work know what it is to desperately want to be loved and validated: to be good at something and not be able to do it; to come in second on countless projects; or told that you were the first choice, but the part went to that guy who had that TV show in the 90s.  (Tv Quotes) So-called reality TV, which dominates British channels, is destroying what made it cherishable to me and lots of others in the first place. I loved Alan Clarke, Ken Loach and Alan Bleasdale’s work. In fact the first TV dramas I ever saw were ‘Screen Twos’ produced by David Thompson, who also produced a lot of Alan Clarke.  (Tv Quotes) I don’t watch TV. I think it destroys the art of talking about oneself.  (Tv Quotes) There are a lot of similarities with film and TV, but also a lot of differences, especially in the way they film stuff.  (Tv Quotes) The thing with TV and filming is the timing is all faked anyway. You do it so many times, from so many different angles. You never really do it all in one go anyway, so they just fix it all in the edit.  (Tv Quotes) Sometimes I’m doing a big movie, or sometimes I’m doing a TV show, but as an actor, it’s almost the same thing for me. If I’m doing action, or comedy, or something more heartfelt, it’s a different approach, but it’s all acting for me.  (Tv Quotes) Stand-up can take you in so many different places, man. So many doors can be opened up from stand-up comedy, and the first one that was opened up for me was acting. But you can go from acting to being a TV personality to being a radio personality to being a writer to being a producer, to just being a visionary, to voiceover work.  (Tv Quotes) Television has a different biorhythm than movies. I love the biorhythm of TV.  (Tv Quotes) TV writing is tricky to navigate because you have so many different personalities - the actors, multiple producers.  (Tv Quotes) People just don’t sit down and just watch TV at night. Between cellphones, television, video games, the Internet and instant messaging, people are just spending their time in different places.  (Tv Quotes) It’s always exciting to explore adult roles when the vast majority of viewers that have seen me on TV know me from ‘Glee,’ from something of a different tone.  (Tv Quotes) You have to understand that teaching online is different, just like movies are different from the stage and TV is different from radio.  (Tv Quotes) Acting in TV as opposed to films is really difficult. What a film gets two months to do, we get eight days to do.  (Tv Quotes) [Coaching] is a difficult job which everyone who owns a TV thinks they can do better at  (Tv Quotes) Traveling around, it’s difficult to follow much TV. Mainly I’m somebody who watches sports.  (Tv Quotes) We’re trying to fix this with the plan we’ve been floating. Now, the law says the transition ends in 2006 or - and the ‘or’ is the only part that matters - 85 percent of Americans go buy a digital TV.  (Tv Quotes) The television set’s on while the family’s sitting around having dinner or talking. Nobody’s watching TV; it’s there; they’re aware of it, but they’re not participating. That’s passive.  (Tv Quotes) I’m just ah, actually developing a tv show for HBO, and I’m directing a film this summer, and actually I’m doing some live shows out in western Canada.  (Tv Quotes) If you’re directing, it doesn’t really matter any more if it’s going straight to TV - what matters is whether you have the resources to make a story that moves you.  (Tv Quotes) Most TV shows are writing the next episode while you’re directing the one you’re doing, and they’re trying to figure out what they’re going to do, and they’re putting it all together.  (Tv Quotes) I stopped directing in 2001 for four or five years, until I did the TV series ‘Masters Of Horror.’ I had been working steadily as a director since 1970. That’s a long time. I was burned out.  (Tv Quotes) We all fantasize about work that uses our creativity, is self-directed, happens during the hours we choose, and occurs in an attractively lit setting with fascinating people - you know, jobs like women have on TV.  (Tv Quotes) I took all my TV experience and what I learned about - by writing and directing and bringing a movie to Sundance - about the realities of the independent film market: ‘Transparent’ is the marriage of those two situations.  (Tv Quotes) I’m not the ‘chosen one.’ I’m just one of many who have been given gifts. I can write. I can bloviate on TV. So I’m trying to use the gifts in a positive way. And I believe that’s all directed. And that’s why I’m here on the planet.  (Tv Quotes) I would direct TV. That’s a little different. It’s more of a contained world as a director. When you’re doing a film you get on the rollercoaster, you put the safety bar down and then you’re gone. And it’s hard. It’s hard, too, as a parent, I think, because the hours are so long. It’s hard.  (Tv Quotes) It’s really hard to find just a simple character-driven drama, outside of a genre, that was available to direct, except for on TV.  (Tv Quotes) The difference between directing film and directing television is so stark simply because TV is a living breathing organism already when you direct an episode.  (Tv Quotes)
