I don’t need a script, I don’t people, I don’t need anything, cameras, I just have myself and my guitar, or keyboard  (Script Quotes) I don’t get rattled about the big things. I get rattled when I have to pick up my laundry, get gas in the car, pick up a script  (Script Quotes) I remember my dad working with me on breaking down my script and writing out a back story for my character and all that stuff  (Script Quotes) If there is a book that the script came from you have to read it, you have to see what you can get out of it: mood, back story and things that may not even be in the film. They kick off your imagination and broaden the character, I think  (Script Quotes) The script was just the best I’d read in a long time and I love the humor, which I wasn’t expecting, and I like the fact that my six year old daughter can see the show without being, you know, protected from it  (Script Quotes) What I look for in a script is something that challenges me, something that breaks new ground, something that allows me to flex my director muscle. You have got to think fast in this business, youve got to keep reinventing yourself to stay on top  (Script Quotes) When I read the script, I liked the script very much and I thought it was a marvelous part for her, because I think it is a change of pace. I mean, we know how wonderful she is in romantic comedy  (Script Quotes) I didn’t want to play a rancher. I didn’t want to have a cowboy hat on; I wanted to get away from that in the things I do. But I read the script and fell in love with it. As hard as I tried to say no, I couldn’t  (Script Quotes) Once you’ve agreed the script, you must be willing to go as far as it needs to go on set  (Script Quotes) As much as most of the actors were kind of curious to know what their character meant in relation to the script and to the plot, they really were quite happy to be part of the adventure of not knowing  (Script Quotes) I keep every script from every film that I ever made because it’s like a workbook of that time in my life  (Script Quotes) In the original script, my character was a basketball player rather than a boxer. I didn’t think I could pull that off. I’m a little short to be a basketball player!  (Script Quotes) All of a sudden, those few pages of script that he had shown me with the weird images I could visualize all of that in my brain, and I knew that there was this mad little genius at work here and I really wanted to do the film  (Script Quotes) Every time I get a script it’s a matter of trying to know what I could do with it. I see colors, imagery. It has to have a smell. It’s like falling in love. You can’t give a reason why  (Script Quotes) Whats fascinating is that when you write a script, its almost a stream of consciousness. You have an idea that it means something, but youre not always sure what. Then when you get on the set, the actors teach you  (Script Quotes) Well, there’s no question that a good script is an absolutely essential, maybe the essential thing for a movie  (Script Quotes) I choose my work very carefully, always for the script and the director, and I don’t think that’s going to change. My work is like a house. It’s built on very strong poles  (Script Quotes) I read every script from beginning to end, and I read every draft that I can. I like the show, I like the character, and I want to protect both of those things  (Script Quotes) Compared to dancing, films seemed to me to be the work of lay bums. There was no physical pain; it was enough to say and imagine what was in the script. It was very easy for me  (Script Quotes) I wouldn’t say I’m a very controlling person. For instance, when I talk to the actors, I don’t tell them exactly what I want because I want them to surprise me. I even encourage them to change some of the verses of the script if they need to  (Script Quotes) I always choose my projects for the script or what the director want to tell with that story. And if I like the story  (Script Quotes) I’m thinking about directing, but I know it’s a lot of work and I appreciate what directors do and I would like to be good at it.
