Text Quotes
The thing about radio is that it’s got an intimate feel. What I like is that you don’t have to give it your full attention - you can still do something else that the same time, whereas TV is all-enveloping: you have to sit there and pay attention to it, and give yourself over to it. You have to surrender to it, but you don’t with radio.  (Radio Quotes) I was going to do a big radio show, and I said to my driver, ‘Radio can wait, take me to the Full House house.’ It literally was a drive-by. I photobombed the Full House house yesterday. I took like 20 pictures because I thought I didn’t look good in any of these - you can’t see the house! You gotta really show that that’s the house!  (Radio Quotes) I myself grew up when radio was very important. I’d come home from school and turn on the radio. There were funny comedians and wonderful music, and there were plays. I used to pass time with radio.  (Radio Quotes) I gravitated toward being a funny guy. I liked the radio comedians. I lived in the Golden Age of radio, and the Golden Age of television came along when I was still in my early teens.  (Radio Quotes) I grew up in New York wanting to be like those funny men in the movies and on the radio  (Radio Quotes) My dad was in radio; he was a broadcaster, and it was in the family. He hosted kind of a game show at one point on TV; he was the original host of ‘Good Day New York,’ and he hosted the Jerry Lewis telethon for 15 years.  (Radio Quotes) I grew up listening to AM radio in the 70s and hearing all of that great soul and rhythm and blues music, which definitely influenced the way I sing. But singing gospel has made me a much more humble person. There are so many people who were geniuses who only a few people knew about when they were alive.  (Radio Quotes) I started singing on the radio in Los Angeles. I sang blues, but I would tend toward country blues.  (Radio Quotes) I’m not trouble at all. I’m just a guy trying to get a girl to give him the time of day. I’m like every song on the radio.  (Radio Quotes) I never listen to the radio. If it’s bad, I make fun of it, and if it’s good, I get jealous that I didn’t think of it.  (Radio Quotes) It was hard to work and work and work and not get your music played on the radio  (Radio Quotes) I like to write books where I get a question on the radio, and I don’t have an answer for it  (Radio Quotes) I get a lot of letters from people saying, ‘How do I get into radio, how do I get into telly?’ and I wish there was an answer, because there’s no ladder. There are no parameters. You’ve just got to go in wherever you can, make the tea, and slowly make your way up the ladder.  (Radio Quotes) I grew up singing ballads, but what I really wanted to get into was the mainstream music on the radio because I really love the beats and everything.  (Radio Quotes) It’s like you can’t even go on the radio anymore and condemn a whole subset of people to hell without getting some blowback.  (Radio Quotes) I am up at 3:30, reading the op-ed pages and getting ready to be on the air by 6 A.M. on the set of ‘Morning Joe,’ and after three hours of TV and two hours on the radio, it is only 12 noon.  (Radio Quotes) There’s this corporate machine giving us a chance to access radio - though there’s no guarantee.  (Radio Quotes) Technology gives us the facilities that lessen the barriers of time and distance - the telegraph and cable, the telephone, radio, and the rest.  (Radio Quotes) The radio is good for taking somebody else’s experience and making you understand what it would be like. Because when you don’t see someone, but you hear them talking - and, uh, that is what radio is all about - it’s like when someone is talking from the heart. Everything about it conspires to take you into somebody else’s world.  (Radio Quotes) I was obsessed with George Orwell for years. I remember going to the town library and having to put in interlibrary loan requests to get the compilation of his BBC radio pieces. I had to get everything he ever wrote.  (Radio Quotes) What I try to do often when I’m acting and what I like when I’m seeing good acting is how authentic it is. How true is this to what I know of the world that’s been created for me? The ultimate test for me is, like, if I heard a clip of it on the radio, I’d like the audience not to know if I’m acting.  (Radio Quotes) Giving people what they want isn’t just good radio; it’s also the right way to run a country.  (Radio Quotes) My dad talked a good game. [I’m as a] child got only the World Series on the radio.  (Radio Quotes) It’s just these moments in hip-hop where you feel invincible. It felt good hearing the music on the radio and in cars, skating rinks, and clubs.  (Radio Quotes) The hardest part of fame and success is adapting to the people around you that’s changing. It changes the way people look at you from how they used to look at you. They listen to you on the radio, they look at you on TV and when people speak on you in a good light, you have a couple people who hold grudges.  (Radio Quotes) Our demand for good looks, expressed in the biting comments that ensue when public figures fall short of perfection, puts enormous pressures on these individuals and may screen out the otherwise qualified. If video killed the radio star, it may also be doing away with the homely politician.  (Radio Quotes) I think people were just starving for good material because they just weren’t getting it on the radio.  (Radio Quotes) Strangely enough, ‘I’ve Seen All Good People’ is, I think, the second most played Yes song on American radio after ‘Owner Of A Lonely Heart.’ And then I think ‘Roundabout’ is third.  (Radio Quotes) However, the radio and national media depend much more on the hype from a good record label, and from a ‘ buzz ‘ about a band, then from just one or two good shows. There are a lot of artists that have a ton of good press going for them, and still do not make it big in the US.  (Radio Quotes) I’m not in any way selling out by having a record that’s good enough for radio  (Radio Quotes)
