Text Quotes
I started bands at a pretty young age and played with my friends back in Detroit. I’ve always known that I wanted to do this. It was all I was ever interested in doing. I never had, outside of music, any extracurricular activities that I took part in.  (Played Quotes) I’ve always played that edge of fact and fiction. I used to be a filmmaker, and certainly in film that’s a line that filmmakers cross more readily and more easily than novelists.  (Played Quotes) For those of you who don’t know who I am, I played Natalie on The Facts of Life  (Played Quotes) One of the first houses we lived in was like out of a fairy story. We had a stream that ran through our garden, and we played with the ducks - we locked them in my mum’s office, and they pooed everywhere. It was crazy, picking blackberries and mushrooms, rabbits running through your legs.  (Played Quotes) I played trumpet for about two weeks. Sixth grade. And I didn’t practice. Maybe a little longer than two weeks, but I didn’t practice and I was faking it.  (Played Quotes) In the summertime, I played Little League baseball; football in the fall; basketball in the winter  (Played Quotes) I was an athlete growing up. I was a wrestler, I played football, so I can take a fall. I actually wanted to be a stuntman when I was kid, so I would practice falling down the stairs. It’s just something I like to do.  (Played Quotes) We played a lot of sandlot ball, so we were used to tackling each other, or falling on the concrete, things of that nature. And nine times out of 10, our flag games turned into tackle anyway. So when I got to high school, tackle football was kind of natural.  (Played Quotes) There are characters that have made me uncomfortable. I did a film called ‘Rob Roy,’ and I played Killearn, who was this sort of greasy fallen-angel character who was voyeuristic and sleazy and really unpleasant. It was a great role, but I didn’t especially enjoy living with this awful man for the length of time it took to make the movie.  (Played Quotes) I love heavy music, but you see, I had fallen in love with a radio station in Vegas that played nothing but Eighties music. That had a real profound impact on me.  (Played Quotes) The piano has disappeared from working-class family life, which is a shame. It’s associated with the middle classes now. Everyone in my family sang and played piano, but my parents were delighted and amazed when I became the first professional performer in the family - apart from a clog-dancer way back.  (Played Quotes) There is a history of footballers in my family; my granddad played for Notts County and my dad played at county level.  (Played Quotes) I look at it like this: that if Shakespeare were alive today, he would have written two or three plays about the Kennedy family, and actors would traditionally play JFK like they Hamlet or King Lear. They just would. I mean, people have played JFK, and they’ll play him long after I have.  (Played Quotes) By virtue of some of the ways the game is played, in terms of message discipline, in terms of access for reporters, and especially in the way that sources and subjects, especially famous subjects, treat the media, almost by default there’s more news that’s falling into books.  (Played Quotes) I played one year of fantasy football in high school. You really get into it. It makes more fans of the NFL, and people love talking about it. They’ll come up to me and say, ‘Why did you throw an interception? You ruined my fantasy team!’ Or they’re happy because they got you for a bargain.  (Played Quotes) There is a growing market today for local, organic foods produced by small farmers. And farmers’ markets have played a large role in making that happen.  (Played Quotes) WI played a young Helena Bonham Carter in a BBC film called ‘A Dark Adapted Eye,’ and I thought she was a completely spellbinding person. Totally unmoved by other people’s expectations, fashions or opinions. She’s probably the coolest English actress there is. Incredibly idiosyncratic.  (Played Quotes) I played soccer all my life and I used to think growing up that they put the fat kid in goal or they put the kid that wasn’t good with the ball at their feet in goal and I never wanted to do goalkeeper, I was always the goal scorer.  (Played Quotes) I picked up the guitar at 12 yrs old - basically, my mother and father bought it for me for Christmas. I played one at my friend’s house; when I say played it, I just played around with it at my friend’s house. It just struck me as something I really wanted.  (Played Quotes) I grow up in the States, in Miami, but I was born in Guatemala, and my father’s Cuban, and in ‘Body of Lies,’ I played an Iraqi.  (Played Quotes) As I kid, I was always jealous of the music that my favorite bands had written - but not really of how they played. So I’d daydream about having written songs, and this way above being able to perform them.  (Played Quotes) Some of my favorite characters that I’ve played have been very pompous because I love making fun of pompous people.  (Played Quotes) My favorite song as a boy was definitely ‘Downtown’ recorded by Petula Clark. I still love it! And the original cast recording of ‘Gypsy’ I played my mother’s cast recordings until there was no vinyl left.  (Played Quotes) My favourite thing about live shows is you can make up new songs on the spot. Never played before, never again. And that’s wonderful for me, because it frees me up to not have to worry about lyrics and stuff.  (Played Quotes) I was a very shy character, always feeling uncomfortable because everybody was stronger than I, and always afraid I would look like a sissy. Everybody else played baseball; everybody else did all kinds of athletic things.  (Played Quotes) As of right now, I have no desire. I’ve watched several games and played pickup ball thinking I’d have the feeling I’d like to get back, but I didn’t have that feeling. I don’t really miss the game.  (Played Quotes) There are times when I’ve been feeling something and played a solo that I’ve never been able to repeat.  (Played Quotes) I’ve played a lot of parts. But I don’t look at my feeling is that this is a job. It’s given me a good living.  (Played Quotes) When you’ve played Buffy - who’s such a strong female role model - it’s really hard for another female character to compare to her.  (Played Quotes) I never wanted to model myself on a female singer, which tells you a lot about my character. I didn’t have a female role model. There just wasn’t anybody around. I played with the boys and beat them at their own game.  (Played Quotes)
