Text Quotes
My paintings are inspirational for they allow the observer to experience infinite viewpoints and perceptions. They are not abstract for they represent what is actually more real than what our eyes are able to see. They allow the viewers to be inspired by taking their own perception beyond their senses and their surroundings  (Observer Quotes) I endeavor to make a picture, for instance, exert a positive influence on the observer by its coloring, mood, and compositional idea, encouraging, say, activation, tranquilization, concentration, or harmony  (Observer Quotes) Politics, as any observer of the modern world knows, is the enemy of economics, everywhere and always  (Observer Quotes) A performer may be taken in by his own act, convinced at the moment that the impression of reality which he fosters is the one and only reality. In such cases we have a sense in which the performer comes to be his own audience; he comes to be performer and observer of the same show. Presumably he introcepts or incorporates the standards he attempts to maintain in the presence of others so that even in their absence his conscience requires him to act in a socially proper way  (Observer Quotes) The observer must learn to look at the picture as a graphic representation of a mood and not as a representation of objects  (Observer Quotes) You are not a passive observer in the cosmos. The entire universe is expressing itself through you at this very moment  (Observer Quotes) The apparent world, the one which is perceived, with its figures, its brightness, its colors, is a psychical product, a creation of the observer. The figures seen on the vault of heaven are neither the celestial bodies, nor the true clouds or the falling stars, but are only effigies which the observer’s psyche has created and localized how and where it can  (Observer Quotes) An observer can’t tell if a person is silent and still because inner life has stalled or because inner life is transfixingly busy  (Observer Quotes) The most intelligent inspection of any number of fine paintings will not make the observer a painter, nor will listening to a number of operas make the hearer a musician, but good judges of music and painting may so be formed. Chess differs from these. The intelligent perusal of fine games cannot fail to make the reader a better player and a better judge of the play of others  (Observer Quotes) No, I don’t think you’re ever an objective observer. By making a frame you’re being selective, then you edit the pictures you want published and you’re being selective again. You develop a point of view that you want to express. You try to go into a situation with an open mind, but then you form an opinion, and you express it in your photographs  (Observer Quotes) When you are in hard labor, remember that the length of labor is usually proportional to the number of people around. Avoid the presence of anybody who might release adrenaline. The best situation I know for an easy birth is when there is nobody else around than an experienced, motherly and silent midwife who does not behave like a guide or an observer  (Observer Quotes) In modern physics, the universe is experienced as a dynamic inseparable whole which always includes the observer in an essential way  (Observer Quotes) You’ve got to be an observer. And you’ve got to take time to listen to people, talk, to watch what they do  (Observer Quotes) Without an observer at a twenty three degree angle to the light being reflected off a cloud of spherical droplets, there is no rainbow. The whole universe is like that. Our spirits stand at a twenty three degree angle to the universe. There is some new thing created at the contact of photon and retina, some space created between rock and mind  (Observer Quotes) I’m not asking a poem to carry a lot of rocks in its pockets. Just being an ordinary observer and liver and feeler and letting the experience get through you onto the notebook with the pen, through the arm, out of the body, onto the page, without distortion  (Observer Quotes) Prison opened my eyes to so many things. It was a great time. I met interesting people. I got to understand the behaviour of the police and the media. I am an observer of the human race  (Observer Quotes) Just having the camera, being able to pull back from situations and be an observer, it saved my life... I realised I could find these intimate moments and that people trusted me. That, basically, my camera was magic  (Observer Quotes) I have three stepfamilies as well as my family of origin. I’ve had to adjust to them and also go back and forth among them. I became an observer of human nature because when you are in those situations you have to be  (Observer Quotes) On the most usual assumption, the universe is homogeneous on the large scale, i.e. down to regions containing each an appreciable number of nebulae. The homogeneity assumption may then be put in the form: An observer situated in a nebula and moving with the nebula will observe the same properties of the universe as any other similarly situated observer at any time  (Observer Quotes) In the end, science as we know it has two basic types of practitioners. One is the educated man who still has a controlled sense of wonder before the universal mystery, whether it hides in a snail’s eye or within the light that impinges on that delicate organ. The second kind of observer is the extreme reductionist who is so busy stripping things apart that the tremendous mystery has been reduced to a trifle, to intangibles not worth troubling one’s head about  (Observer Quotes) The soul is the observer who interprets and makes choices in a confluence of relationships. These relationships provide the background, setting, characters, and events that shape the stories of our lives  (Observer Quotes) I made a promise to keep a watch over myself, to remain master of myself, so that I might become a sure observer  (Observer Quotes) A paradox is a seeming contradiction, always demanding a change on the side of the observer. If we look at almost all things honestly we see everything has a character of paradox to it. Everything, including ourselves  (Observer Quotes) I learned how to direct by being in the trenches of movies. Getting to be a student from the inside looking out, and if you’re a respectful observer you can sponge lots of information. That was my film school  (Observer Quotes) The moment I am aware that I am aware, I am not aware. Awareness means the observer is not  (Observer Quotes) The material presence of the work only serves as a conveyer launching an invitation to the observer to take part of the comprehensive game of the thousand and one emotions and visions  (Observer Quotes) You cannot do silhouettes in fantasy. Ah, no, you must be faithful. It is, the art, a, what you call, paradox. It is always that you must be simple, and then, if you are simple, you will stimulate the imagination of the observer  (Observer Quotes) I was always an observer, even as a child. I could be satisfied to sit in a car for 3 hours and just look at the street go by while my mother went shopping  (Observer Quotes) I’m an observer of life. I like to watch people, and I like to watch cactus. I like to talk to mountains and communicate with my friends in the other spheres and dimensions  (Observer Quotes) The critic... should be not merely a poet, not merely a philosopher, not merely an observer, but tempered of all three  (Observer Quotes)
