Text Quotes
Science, at its core, is simply a method of practical logic that tests hypotheses against experience. Scientism, by contrast, is the worldview and value system that insists that the questions the scientific method can answer are the most important questions human beings can ask, and that the picture of the world yielded by science is a better approximation to reality than any other  (Logic Quotes) What do you think science is? There is nothing magical about science. It is simply a systematic way for carefully and thoroughly observing nature and using consistent logic to evaluate results. So which part of that exactly do you disagree with? Do you disagree with being thorough? Using careful observation? Being systematic? Or using consistent logic?  (Logic Quotes) Logic only tells us what’s there; it can’t really address what isn’t. Even the most devoted empiricist must admit that we have no hope of understanding the universe. Some things are unknowable  (Logic Quotes) Mankind has moved away from the heart of the world to the logic of the mind, and their belief is in the chemist, the physicist, and the mathematician. Science has proven to them that all this ancient belief in ceremony is simply ignorance  (Logic Quotes) Programmers are not to be measured by their ingenuity and their logic but by the completeness of their case analysis  (Logic Quotes) The belief that love is a finite essence that will eventually run out holds a certain logic for me even now, even if I am supposed to know better  (Logic Quotes) Every science that has thriven has thriven upon its own symbols: logic, the only science which is admitted to have made no improvements in century after century, is the only one which has grown no symbols  (Logic Quotes) I end with a word on the new symbols which I have employed. Most writers on logic strongly object to all symbols... I should advise the reader not to make up his mind on this point until he has well weighed two facts which nobody disputes, both separately and in connexion. First, logic is the only science which has made no progress since the revival of letters; secondly, logic is the only science which has produced no growth of symbols  (Logic Quotes) In every enterprise... the mind is always reasoning, and, even when we seem to act without a motive, an instinctive logic still directs the mind. Only we are not aware of it, because we begin by reasoning before we know or say that we are reasoning, just as we begin by speaking before we observe that we are speaking, and just as we begin by seeing and hearing before we know what we see or what we hear  (Logic Quotes) I kept looking for a logic that would explain life. It never occurred to me that instead love is the vital synthesis  (Logic Quotes) Action is the music of our life. Like music, it starts from a pause of leisure, a silence of activity which our initiative attacks; then it develops according to its inner logic, passes its climax, seeks its cadence, ends, and restores silence, leisure again. Action and leisure are thus interdependent; echoing and recalling each other, so that action enlivens leisure with its memories and anticipations, and leisure expands and raises action beyond its mere immediate self and gives it a permanent meaning  (Logic Quotes) Our ego seeks to understand everything. It wants all the answers. Part of what destroys the ego and connects us with the light is doing things that absolutely don’t make any sense. If we want something beyond logic, like a miracle, we have to do something that is beyond logic  (Logic Quotes) The message I hope to have sent is just the example of being yourself. I tell this to my students: It’s not about copying me or my logic systems. It’s about allowing yourself to be yourself  (Logic Quotes) Some ideas are not born of logic and good sense. They are made of clouds and cobwebs. They sprout from nowhere and feed on excitement, sprinkled with adventure juice and the sweet flavor of the forbidden. The psyche moves from the realms of the ordinary and takes a delicate step towards the unknown. We know we shouldn’t and that is exactly why we do  (Logic Quotes) I think women are really vicious in the work place, they’re really jealous, really competitive. Women are emotional, they cry in toilets. The sisterhood only extends as far as the kitchen door. Men talk in logic and rational terms, they don’t squark and make a noise  (Logic Quotes) Be grateful simply for being alive. When you are grateful for life, pure and simple, your life becomes one you can be grateful for. That may strike you as circular or even backward logic, but your attitude really does have an effect on how things work out. When you can’t change your life any other way, you can still change your attitude. When you do, your life changes. You find more chances to love, and you will be surprised to see how much more love is returned to you  (Logic Quotes) ... if one were to refuse to have direct, geometric, intuitive insights, if one were reduced to pure logic, which does not permit a choice among every thing that is exact, one would hardly think of many questions, and certain notions... would escape us completely  (Logic Quotes) My heart, independent of my logic, had reserved a place for my tormentor and my solace  (Logic Quotes) No sentence can be effective if it contains facts alone. It must also contain emotion, image, logic, and promise  (Logic Quotes) In every political community there are varying shades of political opinion. One of the shadiest of these is the liberals. An outspoken group on many subjects. Ten degrees to the left of center in good times. Ten degrees to the right of center if it affects them personally. Here, then, is a lesson in safe logic  (Logic Quotes) I like horror movies, and in fact I like them even more now after making one. I just think they’re much more liberating because you don’t really have to apply a very strict logic  (Logic Quotes) The logic behind white domination is to prepare the black man for the subservient role in this country  (Logic Quotes) ... simple logic tells you that if somebody wants you dead you have one course of action: To get them deader sooner  (Logic Quotes) I strive to seek new material that fit into the logic of construction, while performing services appropriate to real needs  (Logic Quotes) ... on every important issue life transcends logic and it is folly to depend on reason alone  (Logic Quotes) My forms are not abstractions of things in the real world. They’re also not symbols. I would say that my job is to invent these forms and to put them together in a way that keeps your interest, to give the forms a quirky identity so you can engage with them, so you realize there’s an inner intelligence or logic  (Logic Quotes) My mother was an economics professor. I’m proficient in math, and statistics, game theory, symbolic logic and all of that  (Logic Quotes) I distrust thought. The interior life is highly overrated. I don’t like the wispy and the vague... or inductive logic in any kind of writing. I’m impatient with writers who make too much sense. The better things that I’ve done have come to me by instinct  (Logic Quotes) A different script calls for different things. It always takes me a long time to get to know the part, and know the logic behind the words. I have to be with the script for quite a long time before things start to fall into place, before they become part of the character  (Logic Quotes) It’s hard to find logic in things sometimes. That’s why I can’t analyze things too much, because it often doesn’t make much sense  (Logic Quotes)
