I like libraries. It’s a comfort that knowledge can be save for so long. That what we learn can be passed on  (Libraries Quotes) Libraries are where most of us really fall in love with books, where we can browse and choose on our own. Its really one of the first autonomous things we do, picking the books we want to read  (Libraries Quotes) All our institutions rest upon business. Without it we should not have schools, colleges, churches, parks, playgrounds, pavements, books, libraries, art, music, or anything else that we value  (Libraries Quotes) When I get nervous, I go to the library and hang around. The libraries are filled with people who are nervous. You can blend in with them there. You’re bound to see someone more nervous than you are in a library. Sometimes the librarians themselves are more nervous than you are. I’ll probably be a librarian for that reason. Then if I’m nervous on the job, it won’t show. I’ll just stamp books and look things up for people and run back and forth to the staff room sneaking smokes until I get hold of myself. A library is a great place to hid  (Libraries Quotes) There is something about libraries, old libraries, that makes them seem almost sacred. There’s a smell of paper and must and binding stuff. It’s like all the books are fighting against decay, against turning into dust, and at the same time fighting for attention  (Libraries Quotes) I have been ineluctably drawn to libraries ever since I entered that sanctum sanctorum. It was a place of quietude. In a world where things go beep and ding and ring, where you’ve got mail and you’ve got messages, when I enter a library, I feel that I am still entering a temple  (Libraries Quotes) Libraries are a hallmark of a civilized culture, and librarians represent that culture to all facets of society  (Libraries Quotes) I care about a lot of issues. I care about libraries, I care about healthcare, I care about homelessness and unemployment. I care about net neutrality and the steady erosion of our liberties both online and off. I care about the rich/poor divide and the rise of corporate business  (Libraries Quotes) Libraries do one thing that no other institution does and that’s provide access to all  (Libraries Quotes) Libraries are magical places. There’s nothing quite like strolling the hushed aisles, letting your eye rove along dimly lit shelves. Each spine, each title, seems to beckon with a promise of incredible wonders, surprises, and adventures  (Libraries Quotes) A country that has few museums is both materially poor and spiritually poor... Museums, like theaters and libraries, are a means to freedom  (Libraries Quotes) I have become convinced that we blacks spend too much time on the playing field and too little time in libraries  (Libraries Quotes) Libraries never let us forget who we are, for their worth stands by the knowledge they keep and save for us  (Libraries Quotes) If it is noticed that much of my outside work concerns itelf with libraries, there is an extremely good reason for this. I think that the better part of my education, almost as important as that secured in the schools and the universities, came from libraries  (Libraries Quotes) I don’t think that there has been a film that I’ve done that hasn’t been influenced by libraries and archives  (Libraries Quotes) I loved to read, still do, and it seemed that the writing was a result of the love of books and reading and libraries  (Libraries Quotes) Like most of my friends in school, I was a member of multiple circulating libraries; and all of us, to begin with, borrowed and read the same things  (Libraries Quotes) Children have to have access to books, and a lot of children can’t go to a store and buy a book. We need not only our public libraries to be funded properly and staffed properly, but our school libraries. Many children can’t get to a public library, and the only library they have is a school library  (Libraries Quotes) I have done quite a few signings at bookstores, libraries and conferences. I have received phone calls and letters from people who liked the book  (Libraries Quotes) Shared libraries are the work of the devil, the one true sign that the apocalypse is at hand  (Libraries Quotes) Libraries are brothels for the mind. Which means that librarians are the madams, greeting punters, understanding their strange tastes and needs, and pimping their books  (Libraries Quotes) The librarian of today, and it will be true still more of the librarians of tomorrow, are not fiery dragons interposed between the people and the books. They are useful public servants, who manage libraries in the interest of the public... Many still think that a great reader, or a writer of books, will make an excellent librarian. This is pure fallacy  (Libraries Quotes) Within the sacred walls of libraries we find the best thoughts, the purest feelings, and the most exalted imaginings of our race  (Libraries Quotes) One cannot celebrate books sufficiently. After saying his best, still something better remains to be spoken in their praise. As with friends, one finds new beauties at every interview, and would stay long in the presence of those choice companions. As with friends, he may dispense with a wide acquaintance. Few and choice. The richest minds need not large libraries  (Libraries Quotes) Did it ever occur to anyone that if you put nice libraries in public schools you wouldn’t have to put them in prisons?  (Libraries Quotes) You take the books, you lie there in the pools of light and you drink life. That is how intensely I have loved libraries  (Libraries Quotes) Spies go to bars for the same reason people go to libraries: full of information if you know where to ask  (Libraries Quotes) As convenient as it is for information to come to us, libraries do have a valuable side effect: they force all of the smart people to come together in one place where they can interact with one another  (Libraries Quotes) What does it profit you that all the libraries of the world should be yours? Not knowledge but what one does with knowledge is your profit  (Libraries Quotes) Digital books and other texts are increasingly coming under the control of distributors and other gatekeepers rather than readers and libraries  (Libraries Quotes)
