Text Quotes
I never believed in pushing my kids. My dad was very unhappy I wasn’t going to be a doctor, but I couldn’t stand to see the sight of blood. And I wanted to be a lawyer since I was in seventh or eighth grade.  (Grade Quotes) When I was in the eighth grade, I wrote this huge long paper about how I had no idea what I was gonna do with my life, but that I wanted to make a difference and touch even if it was like one person’s life... inspire them.  (Grade Quotes) I knew I was different when I was about six years of age but I just knew that I wasn’t like everybody else. I mean I wasn’t like the other kids. I didn’t know what that was. But I guess it was when I was in seventh or eighth grade, I’m like, ‘Hey, something’s wrong here.’  (Grade Quotes) I got interested in astronomy at the age of 8 because I was looking at an atlas of the planets in my parents’ apartment in Arlington, where I grew up. I got a telescope at age 10, which is pretty normal, and by the time I was in eighth grade, I had already seen a lot of cheesy sci-fi films.  (Grade Quotes) In seventh and eighth grade, grammar and vocabulary were not my favorite subjects  (Grade Quotes) I’ve loved vampires for a very long time. In eighth grade, I guess, my research paper was on vampires.  (Grade Quotes) I wasn’t athletic as a kid, and I was self-conscious about my body, but then in eighth grade I won a school contest, and the prize was a bunch of personal training sessions.  (Grade Quotes) When I was in Grade 9, there was an election for high school president, and one of the candidates told us that if we elected him, he would abolish homework. He promised this to the entire student body from the stage in the school gymnasium.  (Grade Quotes) I had been encouraged a lot by my parents and my sixth grade teacher, James Doyle at Main Street Elementary School. He was an early supporter of my writing ability.  (Grade Quotes) I was in elementary school in Mississippi, and when Katrina hit, my mom put me in home school. So ever since sixth grade, I’ve been home schooled, which was interesting.  (Grade Quotes) I was never forced to write. At least, I was never forced or even encouraged to write fiction. Creative writing wasn’t in the curriculum at my school when I was in sixth grade.  (Grade Quotes) First grade was - I spoke only Spanish, and second grade - probably a bit more English. And by the time I hit third grade, I was learning, of course, much, much more English.  (Grade Quotes) I am especially indebted to a 10th grade English teacher who encouraged me to read great works of literature.  (Grade Quotes) I couldn’t speak English. I’m in kindergarten, and the only reason I got through to first grade is because I cheated.  (Grade Quotes) I enjoy going to campuses and reading and doing a class or teaching and then running away and not having to grade papers.  (Grade Quotes) I didn’t only have a perceptual problem, I was also so nervous and so upset. The process just didn’t work. I lost enthusiasm for school and I flunked second grade. The teachers said I was lazy.  (Grade Quotes) My entire high school career - my entire school career - I’ve been like three feet taller than everyone in my grade.  (Grade Quotes) Every year, hundreds of thousands of people try their hand at this demanding profession (humor columnist). After a few months, almost all of them have given up and gone back to the ninth grade.  (Grade Quotes) I’ve been writing music since 4th grade, and I love putting words together and expressing things in a way that you can move your head to and you can really relate to, because I have a lot to say.  (Grade Quotes) My fifth grade teacher Mr. Straussberger noticed I was having trouble with some of my book reports, but he knew I loved to draw. He gave me extra credit if I did a drawing from the book that I was reading.  (Grade Quotes) It was probably in third grade - I had a super-fake gold herringbone chain. Yeah man, it was, like, super fake. I don’t remember if it was my mom’s or how I got it, but ever since then, I’ve loved chains. The first real chain I got was from Kanye. It was a Jacob the Jeweler Kanye West Jesus piece.  (Grade Quotes) I played trumpet for about two weeks. Sixth grade. And I didn’t practice. Maybe a little longer than two weeks, but I didn’t practice and I was faking it.  (Grade Quotes) You learn to read in kindergarten or first grade, and suddenly there’s this other world that isn’t your family or your school or your friends. It’s something else.  (Grade Quotes) As far as the girls in my grade, it was always kind of an on-and-off thing. When all this came up, it was kind of hard. My guy friends and my family friends have been so amazing and supportive.  (Grade Quotes) I miss third grade because you could kill people in dodgeball. Remember the rules to dodgeball? If you’re fat or have glasses, don’t show up because you’ll die.  (Grade Quotes) By the time I was in the fourth grade, I sounded exactly like my father on the phone  (Grade Quotes) When I was really little, my favorite book was ‘The BFG’. I read it - my teacher in, like, first grade read it to us. I love that book.  (Grade Quotes) Growing up, my two favorite books were Woody Allen’s ‘Side Effects’ and Phyllis Diller’s ‘Housekeeping Hints.’ I carried that Phyllis Diller book with me everywhere when I was in fifth or sixth grade. Eventually, it just fell apart.  (Grade Quotes) This is sort of not expected, but I would love to produce a record for Missy Elliott. It would be totally different, but she makes party music. ‘Lose Control’ was my favorite song when I was in 5th or 6th grade.  (Grade Quotes) I’d love to go back and teach primary school. I used to teach fourth grade and fifth grade. I’d love to spend several years teaching kindergarten or maybe third grade.  (Grade Quotes)
