Text Quotes
It is a well known urban myth that the French don’t trust banks and store their money under their mattress. It’s not that they are tight with money - they just don’t trust anyone.  (French Quotes) When I was growing up in Chicago, my family and I used to go to a local chain, Hackney’s, for burgers and their French fried onion loaf. I probably haven’t been to one in 25 years, and yet, I once saw Donald Trump from behind in an office building and the first thing that flashed in my mind was his hair looked like that onion loaf.  (French Quotes) Everyone knows French artist Claude Monet’s Water Lilies, which he painted in his garden. You find the images everywhere from galleries to dorm rooms and dentists’ lounges.  (French Quotes) Serious drama in a significant degree began at Harvard in the 1880s. In 1881, the Cercle Francais initiated the annual French play, and shortly afterwards the German and Spanish clubs added their productions.  (French Quotes) When you’re a French woman and you have a lot of Latin blood, you can be very dramatic. It definitely makes your personal life exciting - and exhausting.  (French Quotes) I always loved singing, but I thought it was like drawing - just something you do in your own little corner to calm yourself down. But when my friend, the French songwriter Etienne Daho, listened to my songs, he was so moved that told me that I had to do a demo, share them with the world.  (French Quotes) I never dream in French, but certain French words seem better or more fun than English words - like ‘pois chiches’ for chick peas!  (French Quotes) I love French auto design of the early 50s, 60s, early 70s of Citorens, Renaults, and Peugeots. They’re so unique.  (French Quotes) I would eventually leave the business in 1999 to work full-time as a writer, but during the previous decade, I would advise French businessmen on how to succeed in Germany; tell Americans what to do in Eastern Europe; show the Spanish how to become more like the Americans. I spent one particularly haunting year advising bankers in Mexico.  (French Quotes) I was a young film student around the time of the new wave in film in the 1970s; old Hollywood was naff and over. For me, as a film student, I was going to see French and Italian cinema; American cinema was ‘Easy Rider’ and ‘Taxi Driver.’ Everything was gritty.  (French Quotes) Certain foods no longer agree with me. If I eat French fries, I might feel sick to my stomach.  (French Quotes) I always eat mac and cheese. That’s what I’m known for, just very simple food: sandwiches, French fries, very unhealthy, but yeah that’s what I eat.  (French Quotes) Early economic theory was rooted in the Italian, French, and Spanish traditions, which were subjectivist oriented. Then it shifted onto the terrible path by Smith and Ricardo and the British classical tradition, which is ‘objectivist’ - values are in inherent in production.  (French Quotes) I love magazines. I always read ‘Time,’ ‘Newsweek’ and ‘The Economist.’ When I get my hair cut, French ‘Vogue,’ French ‘Elle,’ ‘Paris Match’ - I read them all in 10 minutes.  (French Quotes) The French suffered such catastrophic losses in the First World War. It really was the end of them as a great world power, although they, quote, ‘won.’  (French Quotes) As a student in England, I studied French and English literature. I read L’Etranger and the rhythm of the novel felt familiar to me - very African.  (French Quotes) I love the musicality of English. French sounds flat. In English, you can play with pitch.  (French Quotes) Born in St. Petersburg, Russia, my wife speaks five languages: Russian, English, French, Italian and, out of self-defense, Spanish. I watched her learn Spanish in three months.  (French Quotes) Italian is the language of song. German is good for philosophy and English for poetry. French is best at precision; it has a rigour to it.  (French Quotes) In the French language, there is a great gulf between prose and poetry; in English, there is hardly any difference. It is a splendid privilege of the great literary languages Greek, Latin, and French that they possess a prose. English has not this privilege. There is no prose in English.  (French Quotes) People forget that there are villages and communities that are still speaking French all over Canada. I went to a bar and spoke with some French people there, and they were saying: ‘I went to English school, but at home it was always French, and that’s going to be the way it is for my kids.’ It’s important for them to keep that language alive.  (French Quotes) In school in Lebanon, we were not allowed to speak Arabic during breaks - it had to be French or English.  (French Quotes) The American high school graduate is two years behind his English, French or German counterpart; in Alabama, God knows how far behind.  (French Quotes) Liberté, égalité, fraternité. Liberty, equality, fraternity. Watchword of French Revolution. And bold and hard adventures t’ undertake, Leaving his country for his country’s sake.  (French Quotes) Feudal societies don’t create great cinema; we have great theatre. The egalitarian societies create great cinema. The Americans, the French. Because equality is sort of what the cinema deals with. It deals with stories which don’t fall into ‘Everybody in their place and who’s who,’ and all that. But the theatre’s full of that.  (French Quotes) I went to Brown to be a French professor, and I didn’t know what I was doing except that I loved French. When I got to Paris and I could speak French, I know how much it helped me to establish relationships with Karl Lagerfeld, with the late Yves St. Laurent. But I do love going for a run in the morning with my dog. That’s all.  (French Quotes) That result at the French was a big break for me. I had been playing quite well up until that point but nobody really expected me to do well on clay - it was my worst surface. I had had some success on the clay but I was a set and a break up in the semi-final against Jausovec and maybe the enormity of the occasion got to me.  (French Quotes) I’m a salty, greasy girl. I give every french fry a fair chance. Could you just lay some lard in my belly?  (French Quotes)
