Text Quotes
My dream as a producer is to be able to build a company that can be a safe haven for artists, for directors and for writers and actors to do what they do best and let them have final edit. I’d like to build something to that effect.  (Edit Quotes) I don’t type on the computer or edit. Law students who went to law school really just a couple years after I did were brought up all on the computers and that’s how they do it, but I was still part of the older school.  (Edit Quotes) Creative experimentation propels our culture forward. That our stories of innovation tend to glorify the breakthroughs and edit out all the experimental mistakes doesn’t mean that mistakes play a trivial role. As any artist or scientist knows, without some protected, even sacred space for mistakes, innovation would cease.  (Edit Quotes) I have learned to consciously avoid letting that thought, It’s been done, enter my creative process. You have to try not to edit yourself before you actually shoot.  (Edit Quotes) Throughout the life cycle we consciously and unconsciously edit the events of our life, trying to give them meaning.  (Edit Quotes) The thing with TV and filming is the timing is all faked anyway. You do it so many times, from so many different angles. You never really do it all in one go anyway, so they just fix it all in the edit.  (Edit Quotes) Now is a very interesting time because of the digital cameras, and the fact that you can edit anywhere. It’s a great time to be a filmmaker, is a great time to be starting off.  (Edit Quotes) I don’t have to edit myself. I get to be me, warts and all, and that’s ultimately what people want, and to trust each other implicitly.  (Edit Quotes) I’m preprogrammed emotionally and intellectually not to go down blind alleys. I don’t waste the time. I automatically edit out whatever’s impractical.  (Edit Quotes) In film or TV work, you can have this amazingly dramatic pause, and they’ll just edit it out  (Edit Quotes) I begin early in the morning and edit everything I wrote the previous day. I write until mid-afternoon. My goal is to write a chapter per week, and if I am not finished by Friday, I write on the weekend. I get a lot of fan emails and answer them every day. In the late afternoon, I attend to the business of publishing, etc.  (Edit Quotes) In my early teens, I knew I wanted to do television production. I loved cameras, editing and producing, anything that had to do with television production. My friend had a production studio across town, and we’d go over there at night and shoot and edit. I produced my father’s televised service for 17 years.  (Edit Quotes) Even though I studied in New York and I know the American system, I come from France where I learned that with movies in France where the director is king. There’s no such thing as a studio edit. It’s the director’s cut, period.  (Edit Quotes) I have the exact opposite problem of every writer I’ve ever met: Every writer I’ve ever met writes things that are too long, and they have to edit them down.  (Edit Quotes) Writing is a kind of free fall that you then go back and edit and shape  (Edit Quotes) In the media age, everybody was famous for 15 minutes. In the Wikipedia age, everybody can be an expert in five minutes. Special bonus: You can edit your own entry to make yourself seem even smarter.  (Edit Quotes) The storytelling in a movie is in the cut; it’s in the edit. It’s not an actor’s job, really. Your job is such a tiny little thing, and I love the feeling of juggling or tightrope walking.  (Edit Quotes) Fight scenes are like learning a dance. You learn it move by move, and then you put it all together and it looks awesome when you edit it together. It’s great!  (Edit Quotes) There tends to be this hierarchy of film and television, and theater is somewhere else in its own milieu. However, as actors, yes, we love to do theater because it’s our story. Nobody can edit it, the curtain goes up, and it’s ours for two hours or three, or whatever. And we tell it.  (Edit Quotes) Now that I can edit the whole thing on AVID and edit the whole thing on tape, maybe I will do the next digitally, because maybe the quality will become less obvious between tape and film.  (Edit Quotes) In writing scripts now, having made a film, I’m much more conscious of what it means to shoot and edit a movie, and that affects the writing.  (Edit Quotes) A good edit process turns rocks into diamonds, and every author should love that part as much as the creative phase. I do love it. It’s a different side to writing. It’s like the fine-tuning.  (Edit Quotes) My brother Van got the computer first and showed me what it was like to edit video. I definitely credit Van with turning me onto filmmaking.  (Edit Quotes) With these Funny or Die videos, I do everything for them. I write them, act in them, and co-direct them with my buddy Brian McGinn, who I grew up with. We also edit them together. We’re working on a small scale of Internet videos, but we’re slowly trying to make them become a bigger thing.  (Edit Quotes) For most people, I edit. Most people are definitely getting along on the Cliffs Notes.  (Edit Quotes) I write a chapter, then edit it and edit it and edit it and edit it. I don’t think we mine creativity from within. It’s bestowed from on high, from God.  (Edit Quotes) If I had known how difficult it was to edit my book, I would have done that first then written the story.  (Edit Quotes) We are so used to not having kids around [on Twilight] that we had to really make an effort to try and edit our language.  (Edit Quotes)
