American commercial cinema has long been dominated by men, but I don’t think there has ever been another time when women have been as underrepresented on screen as they are now. The biggest problem isn’t genuinely independent cinema, where lower budgets mean more opportunities for women in front of and behind the camera. Their refusal to hire more female directors is immoral, maybe illegal, and has helped create and sustain a representational ghetto for women  (Box Office Quotes) Cancer has pizzazz, box office and glamour, and in actual dollars and prestige, even heart and mental can’t hold a candle to it. It’s a health dodge with a future and everybody who’s anybody is jumping in  (Box Office Quotes) I believe in my privacy. I always have, and I always will. I don’t think that my private life needs to be on display for me to get a better response at the box office or for me to get a better choice of movies  (Box Office Quotes) I think what you have to do is have a box office success in every genre and then you’re set for life. And I agree, box office does not mean a movie’s good, but I feel like I’m making good movies and I’m delivering in box office  (Box Office Quotes) When newspapers started to publish the box office scores of movies, I was horrified. Those results are totally fake because they never include the promotion budget  (Box Office Quotes) The truth is that everyone pays attention to who’s number one at the box office. And none of it matters, because the only thing that really exists is the connection the audience has with a movie  (Box Office Quotes) As an artist, you are always striving toward an ultimate achievement but never seem to reach it. You shoot a film, and the result could have always been better. You try again, and fail once more. In some ways I find it enjoyable. You never lose sight of your goal. I don’t do my job to make money or to break box office records, I simply try things out. What would happen if I were to achieve perfection at some point? What would I do then?  (Box Office Quotes) I wonder if that’s hurt me at the box office. Maybe audiences these days want to know exactly what to expect when they go into a movie, and my movies are hard to explain in just one way  (Box Office Quotes) The studio didn’t ask them to learn their trade, they just worked them, and when that personality or that gimmick or whatever they had ran dry at the box office, they were dropped and out  (Box Office Quotes) So much of the downstream revenue is linked to that initial excitement, to how much revenue is produced in the domestic box office. For example, what we pay for a film three years later is highly correlated to how well it did in the box office  (Box Office Quotes) The part never calls for it. and I’ve never ever used that excuse. The box office calls for it  (Box Office Quotes) So, it didn’t do well. But now when I talk to kids who are first seeing it, they’re surprised to hear the movie failed at the box office. Sometimes that’s what happens  (Box Office Quotes) What I think of as a mistake might be something that does really well at the box office, so I’m my own harshest critic - as we all are, really  (Box Office Quotes) It’s fantastic to see ‘Les Miserables’ become the top-grossing film at the U.K. box office  (Box Office Quotes) Then if your movie clicks with real audiences, you’ll be sucked into some sort of Hollywood orbit. It’s a devil of a place where the only religion that really counts is box office  (Box Office Quotes) The standard entertainment industry reaction to Hollywood’s box office slump reveals the same shallow, materialistic mindset that helped create the problem in the first place  (Box Office Quotes) Women were real box office stars in the 40s, more so than men. People loved to see women’s films. I think it was better then, except for the studio system  (Box Office Quotes) You know how many movies it took Tom Cruise before he was making 5, 6 million dollars?
