Writing fiction, I never made use of experiences immediately as they happened. I needed to let things fester in my memory, mature and transmogrify into something meaningful  (Writing And Memory Quotes) What began the change was the very writing itself. Let no one lightly set about such a work. Memory, once waked, will play the tyrant  (Writing And Memory Quotes) Writing a book is a very lonely business. You are totally cut off from the rest of the world, submerged in your obsessions and memories  (Writing And Memory Quotes) Well, one of the things I discovered in the course of looking back and writing about what I saw in my memory is that I was a closely observant person long before I became a reporter  (Writing And Memory Quotes) I think all writing is done through memory  (Writing And Memory Quotes) Memory is quite central for me. Part of it is that I like the actual texture of writing through memory  (Writing And Memory Quotes)
