We build walls around our hearts and wonder why no one loves us

As human beings, we have a natural tendency to protect ourselves from harm. This often manifests in the form of building walls around our hearts to shield ourselves from potential pain and rejection. We convince ourselves that by closing ourselves off from others, we are safeguarding our emotions and preventing ourselves from getting hurt. However, what we fail to realize is that by doing so, we are also shutting out the possibility of receiving love and affection from those around us.

When we build walls around our hearts, we create barriers that prevent others from truly getting to know us. We become distant and guarded, making it difficult for people to connect with us on a deeper level. As a result, we may find ourselves feeling isolated and unloved, wondering why no one seems to care about us.

The truth is, love requires vulnerability. It requires us to open ourselves up to others, to let down our defenses and allow ourselves to be seen for who we truly are. When we build walls around our hearts, we are essentially closing ourselves off from the very thing we crave the most – love and connection.

It is important to recognize that our fear of being unloved is often rooted in past experiences of rejection or abandonment. These wounds can run deep, causing us to put up walls as a means of self-protection. However, it is essential to understand that by shutting ourselves off from love, we are only perpetuating a cycle of loneliness and isolation.
