Hopefully, as I get older in the business, I make my choices more accurately, and I perhaps know from either the script or the first meeting that it isn’t going to work  (The Script Quotes) I never do any television without chocolate. That’s my motto and I live by it. Quite often I write the scripts and I make sure there are chocolate scenes. Actually I’m a bit of a chocolate tart and will eat anything. It’s amazing I’m so slim  (The Script Quotes) If there is a book that the script came from you have to read it, you have to see what you can get out of it: mood, back story and things that may not even be in the film. They kick off your imagination and broaden the character, I think  (The Script Quotes) The script was just the best I’d read in a long time and I love the humor, which I wasn’t expecting, and I like the fact that my six year old daughter can see the show without being, you know, protected from it  (The Script Quotes) When I read the script, I liked the script very much and I thought it was a marvelous part for her, because I think it is a change of pace. I mean, we know how wonderful she is in romantic comedy  (The Script Quotes) I didn’t want to play a rancher. I didn’t want to have a cowboy hat on; I wanted to get away from that in the things I do. But I read the script and fell in love with it. As hard as I tried to say no, I couldn’t  (The Script Quotes) Once you’ve agreed the script, you must be willing to go as far as it needs to go on set  (The Script Quotes) As much as most of the actors were kind of curious to know what their character meant in relation to the script and to the plot, they really were quite happy to be part of the adventure of not knowing  (The Script Quotes) I choose my work very carefully, always for the script and the director, and I don’t think that’s going to change. My work is like a house. It’s built on very strong poles  (The Script Quotes) Compared to dancing, films seemed to me to be the work of lay bums. There was no physical pain; it was enough to say and imagine what was in the script. It was very easy for me  (The Script Quotes) I wouldn’t say I’m a very controlling person. For instance, when I talk to the actors, I don’t tell them exactly what I want because I want them to surprise me. I even encourage them to change some of the verses of the script if they need to  (The Script Quotes) I always choose my projects for the script or what the director want to tell with that story. And if I like the story  (The Script Quotes) I’m thinking about directing, but I know it’s a lot of work and I appreciate what directors do and I would like to be good at it. The opportunity has presented itself four to five times, and I usually said no because of the script  (The Script Quotes) House was the first film where I had no influence on the script. I had to buy the script with the game rights  (The Script Quotes) I created the characters from what I read in the script. I decided how I should talk, accent, no accent, my own voice, or a created voice. Then, I visualize what I should look like  (The Script Quotes) The script will point you in certain directions and I go the opposite if I can. I try do do one thing and tell a different story with my eyes. I believe what’s more interesting is always what’s not being said  (The Script Quotes) I don’t really belong to that world and I don’t think anyone’s going to miss me. I’m much happier just to write myself out of the script entirely  (The Script Quotes) I knew her work very well and I knew that if she offered me a role in her movie, it wouldn’t be something stupid. So I agreed to do the film before I read the script  (The Script Quotes) I loved the material when I first read it, and the experience of making the film was a great one. So when we came around to complete the trilogy, I just signed on board without even reading the scripts because the experience of the first film was so good  (The Script Quotes) It’s difficult when you have to turn down a tremendous amount of money because you don’t like what the script is saying and you don’t have any money  (The Script Quotes) I think sequels should be earned and we won’t do it unless the script is better than the first one  (The Script Quotes) We taped all this and then got it transcribed and picked the best lines or ideas or ways to take a scene. I’ve done that many times, and it can improve the script but also wreck a perfectly good scene  (The Script Quotes) With acting I am being led by the script, other actors, the director, etc. But with songwriting I feel it is much more self reliant and allows me to be in the creative experience without being as dependent on others  (The Script Quotes) As the scripts come in they are sent to the artists, and the artists are either very busy, or ready to start  (The Script Quotes) I read the script and try not to bring anything personal into it.
