A battle of wit, and a test, too  (Literary Quotes) Nothing like an arcane literary debate with your tyrannical master while you pass the time leading to your execution  (Literary Quotes) There's that unwritten schism that literary writers get all the awards and commericals writers get all the success  (Literary Quotes) You hear the best stories from ordinary people. I want that immediacy when I read a novel  (Literary Quotes) Much literary criticism comes from people for whom extreme specialization is a cover for either grave cerebral inadequacy or terminal laziness, the latter being a much cherished aspect of academic freedom  (Literary Quotes) I don't write literary fiction - I write books that are entertaining, but are also, I hope, well constructed and thoughtful and funny and have things to say about men and women and families and children and life in America today  (Literary Quotes) There is a great discovery still to be made in literature, that of paying literary men by the quantity they do not write  (Literary Quotes) One of the things you get to do as a writer is that you get to learn new stuff all the time, and I hope that I'm a better writer when I'm 70 than I was when I was 30. That's one of the great things about a literary career  (Literary Quotes) I often find myself privately stewing about much British art, thinking that except for their tremendous gardens, that the English are not primarily visual artists, and are, in nearly unsurpassable ways, literary  (Literary Quotes) When we blindly adopt a religion, a political system, a literary dogma, we become automatons. We cease to grow  (Literary Quotes) I read a book a day when I was a kid. You can't compare apples to oranges. William Faulkner was a great literary genius. I am not  (Literary Quotes) Anybody who comes to the cinema is bringing they're whole sexual history, their literary history, their movie literacy, their culture, their language, their religion, whatever they've got.
