Text Quotes
I guess I judge my films by how pleased I am with the work I do, so it’s kind of on another level. If they do well at the box office, then that’s great. Then I’m really pleased about that too  (Box Office Quotes) At the end of the day, successful box office just means that more people saw what you did and liked it, and that to me is the most important thing. That a lot of people saw it and liked it  (Box Office Quotes) Don’t believe the hype. I don’t care how many number ones you have at the box office, I don’t care how much they say you’re great, don’t believe it. Just stay in your lane and do what you’re supposed to do  (Box Office Quotes) Films have been my only passion in life. I have always been proud of making films and will continue taking pride in all my films. I have never made a movie I have not believed in. However, though I love all my films, one tends to get attached to films that do well. But I do not have any regrets about making films that did not really do well at the box office  (Box Office Quotes) I hate how box office failures are blamed on an actress, yet I don’t see a box office failure blamed on men. I think a lot of the time in films, men get roles where they create their own destiny and women are just tools, supporters for that. I guess it’s because we live in a patriarchal society, where feminism is a dirty word  (Box Office Quotes) At some level, I feel it is nice to know that a film of yours is doing well at the box office and has also got great reviews. That feels like success  (Box Office Quotes) American commercial cinema has long been dominated by men, but I don’t think there has ever been another time when women have been as underrepresented on screen as they are now. The biggest problem isn’t genuinely independent cinema, where lower budgets mean more opportunities for women in front of and behind the camera. The problem is the six major studios that dominate the box office, the entertainment chatter and the popular imagination. Their refusal to hire more female directors is immoral, maybe illegal, and has helped create and sustain a representational ghetto for women  (Box Office Quotes) Cancer has pizzazz, box office and glamour, and in actual dollars and prestige, even heart and mental can’t hold a candle to it. It’s a health dodge with a future and everybody who’s anybody is jumping in  (Box Office Quotes) I believe in my privacy. I always have, and I always will. I don’t think that my private life needs to be on display for me to get a better response at the box office or for me to get a better choice of movies  (Box Office Quotes) I think what you have to do is have a box office success in every genre and then you’re set for life. And fortunately, I happened to do that, so I get a myriad of offers of various sorts  (Box Office Quotes) Audiences and critics they don’t like seeing what happens in real life. Why do you think comedies make all the money at the box office? People want to go and laugh. I can understand that  (Box Office Quotes) There are short parts that I as an actor am very right for. Or I just like the part. Or you need someone like me for the movie. By that I don't mean at the box office, I mean in the execution of the material  (Box Office Quotes) People can criticise all day long, I think I’ve proven myself, I think I deliver. And I agree, box office does not mean a movie’s good, but I feel like I’m making good movies and I’m delivering in box office  (Box Office Quotes) When newspapers started to publish the box office scores of movies, I was horrified. Those results are totally fake because they never include the promotion budget  (Box Office Quotes) The truth is that everyone pays attention to who’s number one at the box office. And none of it matters, because the only thing that really exists is the connection the audience has with a movie  (Box Office Quotes) As an artist, you are always striving toward an ultimate achievement but never seem to reach it. You shoot a film, and the result could have always been better. You try again, and fail once more. In some ways I find it enjoyable. You never lose sight of your goal. I don’t do my job to make money or to break box office records, I simply try things out. What would happen if I were to achieve perfection at some point? What would I do then?  (Box Office Quotes) I wonder if that’s hurt me at the box office. Maybe audiences these days want to know exactly what to expect when they go into a movie, and my movies are hard to explain in just one way  (Box Office Quotes) The studio didn’t ask them to learn their trade, they just worked them, and when that personality or that gimmick or whatever they had ran dry at the box office, they were dropped and out  (Box Office Quotes) So much of the downstream revenue is linked to that initial excitement, to how much revenue is produced in the domestic box office. For example, what we pay for a film three years later is highly correlated to how well it did in the box office  (Box Office Quotes) The part never calls for it. and I’ve never ever used that excuse. The box office calls for it  (Box Office Quotes) So, it didn’t do well. But now when I talk to kids who are first seeing it, they’re surprised to hear the movie failed at the box office. Sometimes that’s what happens  (Box Office Quotes) What I think of as a mistake might be something that does really well at the box office, so I’m my own harshest critic - as we all are, really  (Box Office Quotes) It’s fantastic to see ‘Les Miserables’ become the top-grossing film at the U.K. box office  (Box Office Quotes) Then if your movie clicks with real audiences, you’ll be sucked into some sort of Hollywood orbit. It’s a devil of a place where the only religion that really counts is box office  (Box Office Quotes) The standard entertainment industry reaction to Hollywood’s box office slump reveals the same shallow, materialistic mindset that helped create the problem in the first place  (Box Office Quotes) Women were real box office stars in the 40s, more so than men. People loved to see women’s films. I think it was better then, except for the studio system  (Box Office Quotes) You know how many movies it took Tom Cruise before he was making 5, 6 million dollars? It probably took a billion dollars in box office  (Box Office Quotes) But the community knew Blade, and everybody but us was shocked at the box office, and subsequently the DVD. That was the beginning of the DVD revolution, and Blade was just like wildfire  (Box Office Quotes) Very difficult to understand American audience, what they like, what they don’t like. Some movie I like very much, it doesn’t work. Some movie I don’t like, it gets big box office. Very difficult  (Box Office Quotes) Basically I was a theatre fanatic. I had a job with Home Box Office as a theatre consultant for a long time  (Box Office Quotes)
