I know I always had a lot of energy growing up and I had to put it somewhere. Theater allowed me to really feel things, to laugh, to cry, to explode outward. I could do anything and it was totally accepted and appreciated. If I hadn’t gone into the theater, I probably would have been a psychotic killer  (Accepting Growing Up Quotes) Growing up, I was a target. Speaking the right way, standing the right way, holding your wrist the right way. Every day was a test, and there were a thousand ways to fail, a thousand ways to betray yourself, to not live up to someone else’s standards of what was accepted, of what was normal  (Accepting Growing Up Quotes) And you know when I was growing up, I knew I wanted to have kids, but I knew I didn’t want to do it alone. Then once I was 41, 42, I had to accept that I probably wouldn’t have kids unless I decided to adopt later on, but even then it would be with a partner  (Accepting Growing Up Quotes) Many of Judy Blume’s books - which I devoured when I was growing up and where I found characters that were believable because they were a lot like me - caused considerable consternation when they were first published, but now they’re widely accepted as an essential part of the children’s literary canon  (Accepting Growing Up Quotes) The trouble is not that schools don’t work; they do. They’re excellent machines for achieving historically accepted purposes. In suburban schools are children of the rich, who grow up to privilege and anesthetic oblivion to pain - and who then use the servants produced by ghetto schools  (Accepting Growing Up Quotes) Growing up, you always want to hang with your dad - go fishing or whatever. But my dad was always working, so we never really had time for that. I think I kind of learned to accept it  (Accepting Growing Up Quotes) Many people have compared me to the Victorian adventure writer, Rider Haggard. I accept that as a compliment. As a boy growing up in Central Africa I read all Haggard’s African novels  (Accepting Growing Up Quotes) In the 21st century, I think it’s fair to say, homosexuality is more accepted in Britain and it’s wonderful that my generation has been able to grow up with that  (Accepting Growing Up Quotes) I think America may be growing up and accepting the fact that the bulk of life exists beyond 50. Because demographically... the vast population is over 50  (Accepting Growing Up Quotes) My kids are growing up and it’s hard to accept they are their own person and they’re independent  (Accepting Growing Up Quotes) We can’t have everything! It took a lot of growing up for me to realize this unalterable fact and to discipline myself into accepting it  (Accepting Growing Up Quotes) Much protective self-criticism stems from growing up around people who wouldn’t or couldn’t love you, and it’s likely they still can’t or won’t. In general, however, the more you let go of the tedious delusion of your own unattractiveness, the easier it will be for others to connect with you, and the more accepted you’ll feel  (Accepting Growing Up Quotes) When we were children, we used to think that when we were grown-up we would no longer be vulnerable. But to grow up is to accept vulnerability... To be alive is to be vulnerable  (Accepting Growing Up Quotes) I asked myself, ‘What are you going to do with your life? Are you going to be like everyone else or are you going to do what’s right?’ I just made a decision. I said, ‘It’s time to grow up. It’s time to start living for the Lord, do things the right way.’ I accepted the Lord, and it changed my life  (Accepting Growing Up Quotes) When I was growing up, my mother, who had been through a lot of terrible things in life, taught me that when life is tough your instinct is to close your heart. But if you can accept what happened and reach out to someone, there will always be someone less fortunate, or someone that can bring a solution and help your life  (Accepting Growing Up Quotes) When you grow up on film, people sometimes have difficulties accepting the fact that you are growing up. They always imagine you younger  (Accepting Growing Up Quotes) Refusing to grow up is like refusing to accept your limitations. That's why I don't think we'll ever grow up  (Accepting Growing Up Quotes) PRINT FREE GIANT POSTERS
